For those of you eagerly awaiting news on the proposed Health and Safety standard, we recently received more information regarding the expected timing.
The members of this ISO Project Committee decided to first review key comments and then review the key issues to progress the work on the draft standard. Eight small task groups were established to resolve specific items, and the Secretariat was assigned to disposition the editorial comments after the meeting and hold the remaining technical comments for review when ISO 45001 will be revised.
Due to the number of technical changes made to the DIS text, it was decided that an FDIS stage would need to be completed. Now that the Secretariat has completed the disposition of the comments and the draft has been edited, it will be placed on the ISO servers for download by the ISO member national standards bodies for translation.
The usual two week translation period for an FDIS was extended to four weeks to comply with a request from AFNOR for an extended period due to the need to prepare the French translation. The FDIS ballot is scheduled to start on November 30 and end on January 25, 2018.
If the FDIS ballot is successful, there will be a short period of final preparation of the text before ISO 45001 is published in February 2018.
