Preparing for your ISO 9001:2015 or ISO 14001:2015 upgrade audit may initially seem like a daunting task, but DQS Inc. is committed to guiding our customers to a successful audit. While we have many resources available for our customers, below are five key steps we believe will help organizations attain a successful upgrade audit.
1. Read our Bulletin.
If you have not already, read a copy of the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Bulletin we sent to all customers in September. This document will give you guidance on timing for when you need to upgrade by and when the optimal time for you to upgrade may be. It will also go over the upgrade requirements process.
2. Purchase a copy of new Standard.
We have many resources on our website to help you prepare for the transition to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, including various recorded webinars. After familiarizing yourself with these items, you will want to purchase a copy and read the new standard so you get at least a basic comprehension of it.
3. Attend an Informational Session.
Take advantage of our Informational Sessions on the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards. We have designed three different courses for each standard as well as an integrated course to give customers a deeper comprehension of the changes on the standards. These are private courses you can have at your facility, but we also have some public courses planned in various locations across the country for the convenience of our customers.
4. Prepare your Team.
Once you understand the changes you need to make at your organization, make a plan of what changes need to occur at your organization to be compliant with these new requirements. When you are ready to make these changes, be sure to communicate these new requirements and changes to your management team as you will need their participation to ensure a successful transition.
5. Schedule a Gap Assessment.
Once you believe your organization is ready for the transition, schedule a gap assessment with DQS Inc. so we can assess any areas of weakness that you should fix before your upgrade assessment. This will help keep the surprises out of your formal assessment.
If you have any questions about these steps or how we can help you prepare for the changes to the standard, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to helping you prepare and continuing the success at your organization.
