CHICAGO – February 13, 2014 – Huron Consulting Group, a leading provider of business consulting services, today announced its certification under the ISO 22301:2012 standard for business continuity management.
This new international certification endorses a plan of management practices and preventive solutions to protect the organization – and the delivery of client solutions – against unexpected disruptions, such as a loss of power, severe weather conditions, epidemics or unstable political or economic situations. As one of the few organizations to have been issued ISO 22301:2012 accreditation, Huron demonstrates a strong commitment to proactively enhancing the quality of its services on behalf of clients.
“We are pleased to be recognized for implementing rigorous safeguards to protect our clients’ security,” said Mark Hussey, chief financial officer, Huron Consulting Group. “Such exhaustive planning bolsters Huron’s ability to maintain continuity of operations and organizational resilience when disruptive incidents arise, and clients will benefit from the stringent standards to which Huron holds itself in serving them securely and effectively.”
Huron was awarded this certification by UL DQS, Inc., one of the leading certification bodies for Management Systems, after its audit that found the requisite technical controls and formalized policies and procedures were in place.
ISO 22301:2012, a standard that has evolved from the internationally recognized and well-respected British Standard, BS 25999, provides the framework for an organization to identify and manage current and future threats to business, take a proactive approach to minimizing the impact of incidents, maintain critical functions during times of crises, minimize downtime during incidents, and improve recovery time. An effective business continuity management system (BCMS) mitigates the potential adverse impact on brand or corporate reputation that may accompany an unexpected and prolonged disruption to the delivery of practice solutions.
The BCMS implemented and maintained by Huron provides a careful mechanism to ensure that key practice solutions and corporate operations can be effectively restored should a disaster occur. Huron’s robust BCMS covers all corporate operations and the Huron Legal practice.
